Buying

Browsing the auction house

Hovering a listing tells you who is selling it, what it costs and when it ends.

/ah opens the hall: five rows of stock and one row of controls, in a fixed order so what you learn today is in the same place tomorrow.

Finding things

Categories file every listing when it is created, so a tab is instant. The shelves are configurable and match by pattern, which means *_SWORD catches every sword that will ever exist rather than the ones that existed when it was typed.

Search takes plain words, or a field:

you type it finds
netherite anything whose name, lore or material mentions it
seller:Notch that seller's listings
ench:sharpness items with that enchantment
ench:sharpness5 at that level
cur:coins priced in one currency
type:auction only timed auctions
<5k under five thousand
>500 over five hundred

Terms combine, so netherite ench:mending <2m is all three at once. Searching is matched against a string built when the listing was made, so it stays instant on a market with thousands of listings.

Sorting cycles with a click: newest, oldest, cheapest, dearest, best price per item, ending soonest, and best deal against the market.

Before you buy

Right-clicking a shulker box or barrel opens a preview of what is inside. Nobody should have to spend money to find out the box is empty.

Buying opens a confirmation showing the item, the price, what you hold now and what you will hold after. A mis-click should not cost someone their savings.

The collection box

/ah collect holds anything the market owes you: listings that expired, items you won while offline, money paid in a currency that cannot reach an offline player, and anything staff returned. Each slip says why it is there.

Nothing is ever dropped on the floor. A full inventory leaves the item in the box rather than throwing it away.
